Introducing our new ABP Governance Waka

We are thrilled to announce that as of August 1st, the Aotearoa Brain Project - Kaupapa Roro o Aotearoa is officially operating under its new governance structure.

Our new structure is a Te Tiriti partnership under a waka fleet model, beginning with two waka - Te Waka Hourua and Te Waka Whakatere.

Aboard our double-hulled Waka Hourua we have our Waka Hourua Kāhui, with members appointed to either the Tangata Tiriti (tauiwi) hull, or the Tangata Whenua hull.

Our Waka Whakatere will be crewed by our Pae Whakatere; people embedded in Te Ao Māori, including our Tangata Whenua Co-Lead Julie Wharewera-Mika, along with a kaumātua and mareikura (to be appointed).

These waka will sail together toward Hawaiki Hou (new horizons), along with the other organisations in Aotearoa working toward our vision of optimised brain health for all in Aotearoa, to thrive throughout life.
